TRI-COUNTY TECHNICAL COLLEGE GRADUATE PLACEMENT DATA DEFINITIONS

The graduate placement data in this system is to be used for advising and research purposes only.  Official data is issued from the Presi-

dent's Office.  The placement data is obtained by the Institutional Development Division using  two mailed surveys and telephone

follow-ups of non-respondents.  The data is obtained from January through April of the year following the fiscal year reporting cycle,

i.e., 1993-1994 (July 1, 1993 through June 30, 1994) graduates surveyed in January through April of 1995.

Number of Graduates:  Number of graduates receiving awards from July 1 though June 30 of the reporting year.  The number of grad-

uates equals the number reported on IPEDS and to the Commission on Higher Education (CHE) and State Board for Technical and  Comprehensive Education (SBTCE).

Black Graduates:  The percent of black graduates equals the number of black graduates divided by total graduates.

Female Graduates:  The percent of female graduates equals the number of female graduates divided by total graduates.

Available to Place:  Graduates willing and able to be employed in positions related to field of study or continuing their education as of

date surveyed, excluding graduates the College could not contact.

Employed in Related Job:  Graduates employed in full-time or part-time positions related to field of study as of date surveyed.

In School Full-time:  Graduates not employed in related job and enrolled full-time in college as of date surveyed (spring semester).

This also includes graduates enrolled at Tri-County Technical College full-time.

The number of graduates listed as full-time students does not reflect all graduates continuing their education because graduates in related

jobs also may be continuing their education.  The definition used to define placement is not adequate for Arts and Sciences graduates as

the focus is on related jobs and not on continuing education.
